This is education, not advice
The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal consultation. It cannot tell you what the lesion on your skin is, whether laser treatment is appropriate for it, or how your skin type will respond.
No outcome is guaranteed
No treatment can be guaranteed. How much pigment clears, how many sessions are needed and how the skin settles afterwards vary between individuals, and a result is judged honestly only after the skin has had time to settle.
Pigment recurs, with one exception
Sun-related freckling, sun spots and hormonal pigment all return, because the skin continues to respond to ultraviolet and to hormonal change in the way that produced them. Cleared tattoo ink is the one result that does not come back.
The risks are real for both devices
Either device can leave the treated area darker or lighter than it was, can blister, crust or burn if the settings do not match the skin, and carries a small risk of scarring and of a cold sore outbreak in people who carry the virus. Pigmentary change is a recognised risk rather than a rare accident.
